Full-Day Camps

Allegro Music Camp  Ages 5 - 8  (no experience necessary!)

Vivace Music Camp  Ages 8 - 11  (no experience necessary!)
NEW!! Oregon Bach Festival Camp  Ages 8-10 (with at least one year experience)
Young Composer's Camp  Ages 8-10 (with at least two years experience)

These full day music camps offer students the ultimate music experience by

combining music  training with age-appropriate workshops and craft activities. Previous experience is not necessary  to join either camp, however, children with a background in music will also benefit from the  camps as the performance repertoire will be tailored to each student's ability. Activities will  include segments on music instruction, music appreciation, workshops with visiting musicians,  and crafts - all leading to a final performance at the end of the week, available for friends and  family. Performances will be held at the Academy at 3:15pm on the last day of  each camp. Friends and family are invited to join!

Each day the group will also take walking field trips (weather permitting) to picnic and have some free time. Locations include the Washington Jefferson Park, Skinner Butte Park, Hult Center, EWeb Fountain and Park Blocks on Oak. During our final day, the group will take a trip to the nearby Red Wagon Creamery to reward their efforts with a scoop of ice-cream or sherbet (included in materials cost).

The Oregon Bach Festival Camp (OBF Camp) will be similar to the format of Camps Allegro/Vivace but will differ by being dedicated to Bach (and all things related!), taking 1-3 trips to free concerts at the Oregon Bach Festival, and playing his music for our final concert!

*Please pack a snack and lunch (including a drink) for each day of camp.

Young Composer's Camp

For Ages, 8-11

The Young Composer's Camp is our newest addition to our summer camp curriculum, dedicated to music students with an interest in composing their own original music! Each day of camp we will focus on a famous composer and an important piece of music they have contributed to the world of music. Through various activites, students will learn about techniques used to compose, through the compositions we study in camp. Local composers from our community will come in to hold workshops with the children and help them learn the craft. With the help of camp counselors, children will add to their compositions each day, perfecting it as the week goes by. By the end of the week, each student will have their own completed composition and have the opportunity to perform their piece, or have it performed by the camp counselors, during the final performance at Cozmic Pizza!

Compositions that will be studied will include works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Robert Schumann and John Williams.

Outdoor field trips will be taken to nearby locations for lunch, recreation, and inspiration! During our final day, the group will take a trip to the nearby Red Wagon Creamery to reward their efforts with a scoop of ice-cream or sherbert (included in materials cost).

* Students must have a minimum of two years of music education (any instrument) to participate in the Young Composer's Camp.
